Balsamic Butter Mushrooms & Onions

This savory skillet dish brings together rich, buttery flavor with the depth of traditional balsamic. The mushrooms and onions caramelize beautifully in the pan, creating a simple, comforting side with big flavor.

Serves: 2–4

Season: Year-round

Ingredients

  • 16 oz mushrooms (button, cremini, or a mix)
  • 1 large yellow or red onion, sliced
  • 3 tbsp Butter Infused Olive Oil
  • 1½–2 tbsp Traditional Dark Balsamic
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper
  • Optional: fresh parsley for garnish

How to Make

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add 2 tbsp Butter Infused Olive Oil.
  3. Add mushrooms in a single layer and cook undisturbed for 4–5 minutes to allow them to brown.
  4. Stir and continue cooking until mushrooms release moisture and begin to caramelize.
  5. Add sliced onions and remaining olive oil. Cook for another 5–7 minutes until onions are soft and golden.
  6. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Remove from heat and drizzle with Traditional Dark Balsamic. Toss gently to combine.
  8. Garnish with parsley if desired and serve warm.

Serving Tips

  • Serve alongside steak, chicken, or pork
  • Spoon over mashed potatoes or rice
  • Add to sandwiches or flatbreads

What You’ll Taste

Rich, buttery mushrooms with sweet caramelized onions and a smooth balsamic finish that adds depth without overpowering.

Olivetta Tip

Add the balsamic after cooking to keep the flavor smooth and prevent it from becoming too sharp.

Optional

For a more hands-off option, this can also be roasted in the oven at 400°F for 20–25 minutes.
